DUSHORE WOMAN CHARGED WITH RETAIL THEFT
Pennsylvania State Police have charged a Dushore woman with conspiracy retail theft for stealing merchandise from the Weis Markets in Muncy Township.  According to North Central PA dot com, 30 year old Melissa Ann Genay stole merchandise worth over 69 dollars from the Weis on Penn Street on October 17th.  Police said  they several suspects conspired to steal at the self-checkout and that Genay told police she knew others were stealing from the store.  Genay will have a preliminary hearing December 20th

DRUG CHARGES DROPPED
A Two year old drug charges against a Loyalsock Township man have recently been dropped according to court records.  According to the Sun Gazette, the charges against 23 year old Ryland Smith of Estella Avenue, were from an East Third Street incident in Williamsport in November 2017.  State Police withdrew the charges of possession with intent to deliver LSD and possession of drug paraphernalia against Smith.

DEATH ROW INMATES SETTLED FOR BETTER CONDITIONS
A settlement was announced Monday between Pennsylvania’s prison agency and inmates who sued to improve living conditions on death row.   A federal lawsuit was filed nearly two years ago seeking to end mandatory, indefinite solitary confinement for the 136 men currently on death row in the state.  The agreement provides people on death row 42 hours a week out of their cell, access to phones and contact visits with family, lawyers,  and clergy.  According to the Sun Gazette, the state houses death row inmates at Phoenix and Greene State Prisons.  Gov. Tom Wolf implemented a death penalty moratorium soon after taking office five years ago.
CHANGES PROPOSED FOR WILLIAMSPORT CROSSCUTTERS
In a negotiation that occurs every 5 years, the Williamsport Crosscutters are listed in a proposal by Major and Minor League Baseball as one of 42 minor league teams that could potentially be eliminated or altered in the next Professional Baseball Agreement.  According to a statement released by the Crosscutters yesterday, Major League Baseball has stated publicly, that facility standards and the distance of some clubs from their affiliates is the cause for the proposed changes – and  team officials say these factors don’t apply to the Crosscutters.  The current 5-year PBA,  which reportedly has remained largely unaltered for 30 years, expires in 2020.  Negotiations will continue at winter meetings in San Diego in December.

MAN WHO HID IN HOME ATTIC, ARRESTED BY STATE POLICE
Police have arrested a Williamsport man after he hid in a woman’s attic in a Newberry neighborhood and then fell through the ceiling onto another tenant in the building before fleeing the scene.  According to North Central PA dot com, 33 year old Khalif N. Levan, texted a resident on Mosser Avenue in Williamsport on September 15th , 2019, after allegedly trespassing in her attic, that she should close her bathroom window.  When police arrived and called to Levan in the attic he fled to the other side of the half-double residence falling through the ceiling.  A warrant was issued for Levan and he was captured and charged with one felony count of burglary, criminal trespassing and other charges.  Levan was arraigned in District Court October 24th and is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

SHIKELLAMY HIGH SCHOOL SEEKS NEW ADMINISTRATOR
According to the Shikellamy School District Superintendent, Dr. Jason Bendle, they are looking for a new Vice Principal for the High School.  Former Assistant principle Brandy Wiest recently resigned from her position without stating a reason.  According to WKOK, after a senior class prank involving live chickens went wrong, Weist and two other employees of the district were suspended a couple weeks following the incident.  Weist has been on paid leave since May.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR TREVORTON TODDLER
A candlelight vigil will be held this week for little Arabella Parker before she is removed from life support.  According to WKOK, a vigil will be held Tuesday at Memorial Park in Danville at 6pm and there will be another vigil held at the Trevorton Recreation Complex at the same time.  Custody of Arabella Parker was recently given to her aunt, Mandy Kegler, after Parker’s mother Samantha Delcamp of Sunbury and her boyfriend Jahrid Burgess, of Trevorton, were arrested for child abuse and other charges.  The Northumberland County District Attorney previously said if Parker were to die he would file homicide charges on Burgess who is accused of violently abusing Parker

TELE-TOWN FORUM CANCELLED
State Senator Gen Yaw had to cancel his telephone town hall discussion slated for 6pm last night due to the State Senate remaining in session past the time of the teleforum.  He said in a statement from his office that he will reschedule the event at a later date.  The tele-townhall format allows community residents to listen on the telephone to participate in a discussion on state issues without the need to travel throughout the region. Sports
