NUDE NEW YORKERS FACE CHARGES
A group from New York is facing charges after an incident this summer at Loyalsock State Forest. According to Northcentral PA.com, DCNR rangers were called to the Haystacks rock formations along Loyalsock Creek on July 19 after reports that several people were swimming and standing nude in public view. Rangers say the popular spot is clearly visible from nearby trails, and families, including one with a child, reported the behavior and provided photos. A DCNR ranger observed seven adults, male and female, unclothed at the site. Four were charged with misdemeanor open lewdness, indecent exposure, and disorderly conduct, while three others face open lewdness and disorderly conduct charges. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for January 21.

Investigators say the man was attempting to remove a firearm from his waistband when the gun discharged, striking him in the left leg. He was treated at UPMC Williamsport, and his injuries were not life-threatening. Pennsylvania State Police seized the firearm, and the incident remains under investigation.

FAULTY HEATER SETS OFF ALARMS
Residents at a senior living facility along Route 220 were briefly evacuated early Tuesday morning after smoke filled part of the building. According to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, residents in the B Wing at Wolf Run Village Senior Living Community were moved from their rooms for about 40 minutes just after 12:10 a.m. when black smoke began coming from a heating unit in one of the rooms. Borough Fire Chief Dan Dorman said no one was injured, and residents were safely relocated to a large room away from the smoke. He credited facility staff for acting quickly and doing “a great job” ensuring everyone’s safety.
NO DUI DO-OVERS
Pennsylvania is closing what prosecutors called a DUI loophole. A new state law changes how repeat drunk-driving offenses are counted, ending what some called a DUI “do-over.” In the past, first-time offenders who completed the ARD diversion program could avoid a conviction. The new law restores tougher penalties for repeat offenses, including longer license suspensions and increased supervision. Defense attorneys warn the change could catch drivers off guard and discourage people from entering diversion programs. The law is now in effect statewide.
